What a joy to be back in Kenya with Bishop Andrew Kimaro for his annual pastor’s conference – there were 97 pastors in attendance from the Mt. Kenya region. This year, the theme for the conference was healing. It is always interesting to see what direction the Lord takes us in these conference settings. A typical day will consist of 8-10 hours of meetings. Although the teaching covered the topic of healing pretty exhaustively, most pastors were touched at an emotional level. Many poured out their hearts, weeping before the Lord as He began to heal them from past hurts.
It was great to have my brother-in-law, Pastor Chris Erickson, join me for this trip. Pastor Chris is a gifted teacher and brought some powerful messages at the conference. What a blessing to have his companionship and fellowship. It was a lot of fun for me to take him on his first trip to Africa. Since I grew up in Africa and my sister Karen (his wife) was born there, he hears our family talk about it all the time. I pray this was the first of many trips for him.
As I’ve shared many times, I love the context of these settings. Imagine about a hundred pastors coming together, desperately hungry for more of God, worshipping with passion, digging into the Word and receiving powerfully from the Holy Spirit. It is an amazing place to be.
Once again, the Lord graciously provided the funds for the conference. It has been exciting to see the Lord miraculously provide for this each year. I am so thankful for our partners who believe in our call to equip leaders.
